Charlotte

Hi, I’m Charlotte, and I am from the American Community School of Abu Dhabi (ACS). I am originally from Washington DC, USA, but have lived in Abu Dhabi for the last seven years. Art is a passion of mine, and although I tend to deviate towards the performing arts, I love drawing, painting, and sculpting. Currently, I am working on a replica of the painting “Atonality and It’s Permeation” in acrylic, which I found on Google Art Project. I chose this picture because I like the abstract shapes, resembling a face, as well as the unique colors it includes. The picture slightly reflects the flash of the camera. A little bit about where I live: Abu Dhabi. The capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi is soon going to open a Louvre and a Guggenheim on one of the neighboring islands, which I am very excited about. I personally love Degas’s work, particularly his depictions of dancers. Who is your favorite artist?

I can’t wait to get to know all of you, and look forward to meet you!

  1. Hi Charlotte! I really like your use of colours and shapes that are involved in your painting. The blue/green/purple colour combinations gives your painting a really calm feel, and brings your painting to life. Your blending technique is evident, and really well done :) Good job!!

    1. Hi Annette!. I agree with you about the colors having a calming feel. Trust me, the colors took a long time to make. There was a bit of difficulty with the color blending, as there was a lot of time between classes, and some painted areas I needed to blend would dry, but I did manage to recreate the colors. Thanks for the feedback! Do you often use blending in your work? - Charlotte

    2. Hi Charlotte! I like using rough brush strokes in my paintings, mixed with some blending. I really like the 3D effect it has on my painting. :) My instagram is annette.au, maybe we can chat sometime? xx

  12. Hi Charlotte, this is Kevin from XIS! I really like how you used different shades and kinds of the color blue and it radiates a very serene and calm feeling. Also the way you create light and shadow is very interesting. I wonder what had inspired you to create such an abstract piece of work? You appear to be a very creative artist, and I look forward to seeing more of your works! -- Kevin
