Elly K.

Hi! My name is Elly. I grew up all around the world and currently live in Abu Dhabi. I like most types of art, such as paintings and sketches. In our grade 8 art class we are working on replicating professional artwork on canvas. We are focusing on being accurate in aspects such as color, shape, and modifying the original image to fit on the canvas. I decided to do an acrylic painting called, “Horizon” by Linas Jusionis. I chose this piece because I found it interest how Jusionis chose to put the ‘gate’ in front of the horizon. This was one of my first acrylic paintings on canvas and I found that I liked painting like this and would like to create more paintings like this. I am inspired by artists such as Claude Monet. I find his abstract artwork different than most and also what he chooses to paint is basic but inspiring. Coming to Abu Dhabi is the famous Louvre, everyone is very excited to see how it turns out.

  2. Hi Elly, I'm Kenza. I really like the way that used a variety of blue shades and white to create a 'calm' image. I also like how you have added different features and objects to your painting for example, the stones and the trees in the background. Well done.

  5. Wow, your texture looks really nice in the painting! At the 'bridge' in the lines your shadowing works really well, this looked very 3-dimensional to me! I also like how each line is evenly spaced out, did you intend it to be like this? Also, while you were working on the shading did you know the effect it was going to have? (it's a really good shadowing!)

    1. Thank you! Yes, I did intend for the lines to try and be evenly spaced out but at times I had a little trouble but I tried to get the lines to be even. I wasn't entirely sure what effect the shading would have. I expected it to darken the painting a little but wasn't sure how much it would effect it. Thank you! In your art class or on your own are you working on a project?:)

  6. Hi Elly, I like your work, because it really demonstrated the importance of space, value and angles. It's also engaging when you added personal elements to make it look more detailed. Good job

  7. Hi~ I'm Crystal from Xiamen. I really like your painting and I think the textures make your painting look even better. In fact, I also like the famous artist Claude Monet. I once went to his exhibition when I was younger and I simply loved the experience. Anyway, I think you are a great artist:)

  8. Hi, my name is Isabel.
I am from America and I have lived all around the world. I have lived in America, China, Scotland and now here in Dubai. Some of my hobbies are running, softball, reading and drawing. I am very excited to be a part of this online sharing of artwork. I look forward to sharing artwork with your class and to have helpful comments. I also look forward to seeing more of your class's artwork.
I really like the colors in your artwork. They remind me of summer days at the beach. Even in the picture of your artwork, I can see the texture. I love texture in artwork as I feel like it adds to the piece to make it in a way 3D and make the art come alive.
I love how you have chosen a piece of artwork that is shown from a perspective of being behind a wall that you can see through in some parts. Do you think that the artist is trying to show you the emotion of someone who is trapped from the happy scene, or a person looking happily on the scene? I am interested to know what you think this artist is trying to show emotionally with this piece.
I really like your artwork and look forward to seeing more of your work on the blog.
    Thanks!
    Isabel
