Kaitlin

Hey! My name is Kaitlin, and I’m one of the students in the 8th Grade Art class in ACS Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates, and right now, the Louvre and the Guggenheim are being constructed in Abu Dhabi, and I’m really excited for that. I really enjoy art, especially drawing. As for the types of art I like - any art that catches my eye; the types of art I like are usually very creative, or at least interesting. My favorite artists are Pascal Campion, Vincent Van Gogh, and Claude Monet. In Art class, we have been recreating a piece of art made by another artist. I chose to recreate “Water Lilies” by Monet, because Monet is one of my favorite artists (mostly because of the colors he uses, his style of painting, and the content he paints), and this painting one of his more famous pieces. I worked pretty hard on this piece for the last few classes, and I’m open to any suggestions to make it better.

  3. Hi Kaitlin, your artwork really captured my eye and compelled me to look on further! I really like how you have implemented different artistic techniques such as using vibrant colours, and inculcating contrast in your art between the darker green and the light blue. It is really nice how you have explained what inspired you to recreate this particular piece, and I am really looking forward to view more of your artworks.

    1. Hi Aditya, I really appreciate you really looking at my piece and seeing the techniques and colors I used. In the picture, there is a bit of a glare from the camera flash so the colors in the picture in reality are a not as bright as they look, but thank you for recognizing the contrast between the green and blue.

From the blending of colours to the contrast, it is executed to a very high standard. This piece of artwork really shows how hard you worked on this and is an excellent recreation of "Water Lilies" by Claude Monet. I loved your piece of artwork! :)
