Final Project: 3D Plaster Hand: Simone

So this is the final look of the hand, I’m quite happy with the way it turned out. I decided to make it look like my hand in every day life, so I painted the nails; made a wire ring; lightly brushed marker on the finger tips; and finally wrote some sharpie reminders. Overall with all the complications that came with this project I’m proud of the final piece. What do you think? Any questions or suggestions for next time?

  1. I love the hand, It defines it self really well! A tip is maybe the color of the hand you could paint the hand a skin color to get that real affect of a real hand, but overall it turned out amazing and realistic! I love the nail polish.

    1. Hi Serena, thanks for your comment. That's actually something I thought about but I figured that it would end up being to messy. Though I totally agree, definitely something I'll pursue next time.

  4. Simone I really appreciate that you added real details that express qualities about yourself such as dirty "arty" fingers and marker reminders. I do that too if I don't have any paper near by. I wish I could see the marker reminders and how you applied them. When I write on my hand the marker always fades and smudges did you try to give this realistic effect when applying the marker reminders?

    1. Thanks Alyssa, marker reminders and smudges have become a permanent part of my life as of late :) Well, I applied it with a regular sharpie marker and smudged it was a slightly wet sponge to get that "smudged effect" though I immediately dried the excess water so it didn't get to runny.

  6. Hi Simone, I love the amount of detail you have added to your sculpture. I find it really creative how you have been able to show some of your personality through this piece of art by painting the nails, adding the ring and reminders. Next time you might want to consider adding some colour to the hand to make it look even more realistic. Overall I think this is a really fun and interesting piece of art! Would you like to chat sometime about art for homework!

  9. I think that the piece really turned out great, it looks really realistic and I like the style you went for in the end. I had tried something like this before and it ended in disaster, so I didn't have high hopes, but it turned out great.
